Free Play About Underground Railroad In Hoboken, Jersey City Parks This Weekend

HUDSON COUNTY — The Speranza Theatre Company will perform a 30-minute family friendly historical play about Jersey City's connection to the Underground Railroad this Friday through Sunday in Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison and Bayonne parks.

The play is "Walk by the Way of the Moon," by Jacqueline Kennedy.

The plot is: "Ten-year old Fleta Hazel's enslaved family makes the difficult choice to run for their freedom. Not knowing what’s ahead, young Fleta Hazel must find the courage for the long and dangerous trip, fueled by hope for a new life at their final stop, Jersey City."

Speranza Theatre Company is a non-profit women's theatre company and member of the New
Jersey Theatre Alliance, founded to "provide an opportunity for artists, particularly females, to share their voices through entertaining and challenging theatre," according to its description.
