Single In Hoboken Area? Attend This Event, Help Charity, Have Fun

HOBOKEN, NJ — "I recently was having some conversations with single friends of mine living in Hoboken, and we all agree that we are so over dating apps and just want to meet potential matches in person," said Thea Zunick recently. "So I decided to use my 15-plus years of event planning experience to help out."

Zunick, who works with non-profits, launched a philanthropic speed dating and social mixer event that will be hosted at the Kolo Klub this Thursday.

The proceeds will benefit two organizations: Hudson County's Women Rising (domestic violence for women and families) and The Jed Foundation (a mental health and suicide prevention non-profit for teens and young adults).

You don't have to go with the intent of meeting someone to date — the money goes to charity, and you may make new single friends.

Zunick said she's gotten a lot of interest from "amazing women," but wants to spread the word so more men sign up. To balance it out, she's offering a $10 discount for men who sign up through Tuesday.

The age group is suggested 25-55. "I realize that there are a good number of divorced folks in Hoboken looking for their second love as well," she said, noting she heard from a few people over 40. "I have that on the Eventbrite page."

What's included: The Kolo Club will provide 1 drink ticket (beer/wine) and a light appetizer for each registrant. Each participant will be entered into a chance to win a dinner date for two at the Hoboken Biergarten at a date/time of their choice (not to exceed a certain amount to be determined). There will be one winner chosen.
