Sinkhole Is Fixed In Hoboken, But Water Main Work Will Continue Next Week

HOBOKEN, NJ — Road crews in Hoboken repaired a small sinkhole near Third Street and Park Avenue in Hoboken on Wednesday, but pre-scheduled construction in the area will continue through next week.

Water main installation will continue from Third to Fourth streets on Park Avenue through Friday, and possibly next week.

Aa water shutdown will occur Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fourth Street between Garden Street and Willow Avenue. Customers affected by this shutdown have been notified, the city said in its list of construction updates.

"No Parking" signs along the blocks south and north of Third Street and Park Avenue say that water main replacement work may continue Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., through Aug. 18.

"The sinkhole was repaired," city spokeswoman Marilyn Baer confirmed on Thursday. "The work for watermain replacement is ongoing."
