St. Peter's University, in Jersey City, NJ, beat Murray State 70-60 in the second round of the NCAA championships Saturday.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The men's basketball team at St. Peter's University in Jersey City is headed to the Sweet 16. The Peacocks strutted over #7 Murray State University in Kentucky on Saturday night to advance to round 3 in the NCAA college basketball championships.

The 15th-seeded team had beaten #2-ranked University of Kentucky on Thursday night to advance to Saturday night's game.

Sports publications have called St. Peters' rise through the ranks a "Cinderella story," noting that St. Peter's has a $1.6 million basketball budget, one of the lowest in Division I programs.

The Peacocks were seeded #15 when they took on #7 Murray State Racers in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday night.

According to Sports Illustrated, the search term "Where is St. Peter's?" began trending after the first win on Thursday.
