Stevens Institute’s Innovation Expo 2018: Beets, Water, Stocks

Learn about some of the cool concepts that will be on display at the Hoboken university's 2018 Innovation Expo.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Does the idea of a tool that can harvest sugars from beets instead of corn to make biofuel excite you? How about an app that uses using “machine learning algorithms” to forecast volatility in the stock market?

These concepts and more will be on display to the public at Stevens Institute of Technology’s 2018 Innovation Expo on Wednesday, May 2 at the university’s Hoboken campus.

According to Stevens Institute, the annual showcase for student design, innovation and entrepreneurship will feature investor-funded business competitions, lectures from distinguished leaders from industry and academia, and a senior design exhibition that will display more than 140 capstone projects that address some of the world’s most challenging problems in business, security, healthcare and energy.

Students will also participate in the “elevator pitch competition,” a high-stakes contest to persuade prospective investors to help them turn their senior design projects into effective businesses.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla will serve as a one of the judges on the panel. All are welcome to attend and there is no pre-registration required, Stevens Institute stated.
