Storm Ian Knocks Over Tree Near School In The Caldwells

The CALDWELLS, NJ — Among the damage caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ian was a tree knocked over in front of an elementary school in West Caldwell, police said.
On Sunday night, police advised that the sidewalks would be closed near Washington School Monday while workers clear the tree some time during the day.
The West Caldwell police wrote, "The sidewalks in the area of Central Avenue and Westover Avenue are partially blocked with the logs and remnants of a tree that came down this weekend during the storms. The logs will be fully removed some time tomorrow.

"We have traffic cones in the area and will have an officer in place for our children who walk/bike to school. Please have your children use caution when passing that area."

Meanwhile, rain and wind will continue in North Jersey Tuesday and Wednesday, partially due to a separate coastal storm that Ian helped create, according to forecasters.
The NWS has issued a coastal flood advisory for Monday and Tuesday afternoons for places near water in eastern Essex County and in Hudson County.

Up to an inch of rain is in the forecast for Tuesday.
For comparison, the deadly Tropical Depression Ida last Sept. 1 dumped more than 7 inches of rain in a short time on parts of North Jersey, leaving flooded corners.
