Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Hoboken: See Timeline
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Hudson County with hail and strong winds possible. Rain may continue on and off until 12 a.m.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Hudson County at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday. Hail and winds up to 60 miles per hour are possible, the NWS said. No flood watches or warnings were issued, and rainfall amounts are expected to be less than a tenth of what they were during Hurricane Ida.
After the initial storms pass, the NWS said, there could be rain on and off through midnight. Another line of storms was expected around 7 p.m. and then later.

A hazardous weather outlook issued earlier for Hudson County said:
"A strong cold front will cross the region late this afternoon into this evening. A band of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected just ahead and along this front. A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on the leading edge of this activity between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., bringing a localized damaging wind gust threat.

"The greatest threat of a severe thunderstorm is west of the Hudson River.
"The thunderstorm activity is expected to weaken as it moves toward the coast this evening, but even absent any thunderstorms most areas will still see a period of wind gusts of 35 to 45 m.p.h. late this afternoon into this evening ahead of and immediately behind the cold frontal passage. This may result in scattered minor tree damage."
There was no flood watch or warning given as of Saturday afternoon.
The forecast for Hoboken says:
Saturday Afternoon: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4 pm. Mostly sunny, with a
steady temperature around 76. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Saturday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a slight chance of
showers between midnight and 2 am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Low around 53. Northwest wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 64. West wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
The next high tide in Hoboken will be 6:33 p.m. Saturday evening.
