Two Juveniles Charged With Attempted Homicide After Shooting In Hoboken

The two youths from Bayonne were charged with attempted homicide and several other offenses in connection with a shooting in Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Two juveniles were arrested by the Hoboken Police Department on Thursday in connection with a shooting on the west side of town last year, a department spokesperson said Tuesday.

The two youths, whose names police did not release, were charged in a Nov. 8 shooting on the 300 block of Jackson Street, police said. No one was injured in the incident.

The 16- and 17-year-old male juveniles are from Bayonne, said the spokesperson.

The initial reports of shots fired came in at approximately 11:58 p.m., according to a press release. Police responded, canvased the area, and found three shell casings.

A short time later, the Jersey City Police observed four males matching the description of the suspects and arrested all four on weapons charges, including the two juveniles, the release said.

Those two juveniles both had weapons in their possession, police said.

Police would not say which town the juveniles are from.

After more than two months of further investigation led by Det. Bret Globke, the juveniles were charged last week with attempted homicide, conspiracy to commit homicide, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon by a minor.

Both turned themselves in on Thursday. They were processed and released into the custody of their guardians pending a juvenile court date, police said.

“These arrests point to the determination of our investigators, to bring those who break the law to
justice,” said Chief Steven Aguiar. “I am proud of the time and effort all of our detectives and
officers put into this, and every incident they investigate.”

Members of the Hoboken Police Department who were part of the initial response, investigation, and arrests include: Lieutenant Richard Torres, Sergeants William Collins, James Barbro, Anthony Russo, Saverio Binetti, Luke Zezotarski, Dennis Figueroa, and Francis McCourt, Detectives Globke, Tyler Soto, and Christine Collins, and Police Officers Harold Milne, Anthony Azzoline, Aaron Font, Marc Lombardi, Matthew Bonanno, Daniel Barron, Enrico Gnassi, Ricky Truppner, and Teddy Santiago.

The Hoboken Police Department thanked the Jersey City Police Department, the New Jersey Transit Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Bayonne Police Department for their cooperation and assistance in this investigation.
