Two More COVID Deaths In Hoboken, City Says
The mayor released information on new cases in Hoboken, as well as the vaccination status of those hospitalized.
HOBOKEN, NJ — As the highly transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to spread around New Jersey, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla said Monday that the town has lost two more of its residents to the virus, a woman in her 90s and a man in his 70s. One was vaccinated and the status of the other was unconfirmed, a city spokesperson said.
Seven people are hospitalized in Hoboken's hospital with the virus, six unvaccinated and one vaccinated, the spokesperson said. Two of them are Hoboken residents.

Bhalla noted that data from the state of New Jersey showed that only 0.2 percent, or one fifth of one percent, of fully vaccinated people have had breakthrough cases.
"The data continues to indicate that the vaccines effectively prevent the vast majority of deaths and severe symptoms that require hospitalizations, even in breakthrough cases," Bhalla said. "With the full FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine for individuals ages 16 and up, there has never been a better time to get vaccinated." READ MORE: Pfizer Vaccine Approval: What NJ Needs To Know
