Unquarantined: 5 Things To Do Now In Hoboken And Hudson County
From nature hikes to concerts to movies, here's a list of what's going on (often for free) in Hoboken, Jersey City, Secaucus, and more.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Have you ever wanted to learn more about local history, or take a nature hike right in a major city? How about attending a lecture on the "Blue Comet" train that ran from Jersey City to Atlantic City (a topic that was once features on a Sopranos episode)?
Those activities more can be found in the next few weeks in Hoboken, Jersey City, Secaucus, and other nearby Hudson County towns — often for free, and accessible via public transportation or on foot.

See A Concert On The Waterfront
Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City, Secaucus, and several other area towns have outdoor concert series going on — sometimes two or three per town.

For instance, Hoboken has three weekly concert series going on this summer. At Sinatra Park on the central waterfront, this is the lineup over the next month:
- Aug. 5 — Julio Fernandez and Friends will present a great selection of music, from jazz and funk to classic rock. There will be a mixture of covers with one or two originals thrown in. As in past years, the band will include top area musicians with some surprises in store.
- Aug. 12 — Orquesta La Experiencia: A mix of Latin sounds: Salsa, Merengue & more. Sponsored by The Puerto Rican Cultural Committee: Raul Morales II, President
- Aug. 19 — Hoboken Sings - Get ready to strut your stuff & show off your talent. Co-presentation with the Hoboken Historic Museum
Learn About Nature Or History at Liberty State Park
Liberty State Park in Jersey City is a short light rail ride or walk (and there's parking if you drive or take an Uber). Each month they have history lectures and nature walks. They just announced their August lineup here.
Among other talks, you can learn about the Blue Comet Train, which was featured in an episode of the "Sopranos." There are also talks on the Black Tom explosion and the architecture of the historic CRRNJ Terminal, which you can view at the park.
