Uptown Sushi Restaurant Renovates, Renames
The former Sushi House is now known as Las Olas Sushi Bar and Grill.
The formerly named Sushi House Bar and Lounge restaurant at 1319 Washington Street has been renovated and renamed into Las Olas Sushi Bar and Grill. The new fusion restaurant, which launched Thanksgiving weekend, will continue to serve fish and will also now feature several Latin inspired dishes.
According to manager Laura Lenoci, the new owners of Las Olas had been business partners with the former owners of the Sushi House. Lenoci said the new owners, a husband and wife, opted to take full control of the location when the opportunity arose.
“They decided they wanted to get more involved, and the timing was right,” Lenoci said.

Lenoci said the new owners wanted to expand the menu to attract and accommodate more customers.
“A lot of people don't eat sushi,” she said. “We wanted lot of different things on the menu so that everybody would find something that they like.”

The restaurant also has a new color scheme, switching from tan and orange walls with green trim to gray and aqua blue shades.
The restaurant has also revamped its bar, including its televisions and happy hour specials, and its outdoor seating, which includes a patio in the back of the building that could be rented for private parties.
Lenoci said Las Olas is already starting to build a reputation with its new identity. She cited customers wanting to try the new menu and the revamped bar as magnets.
“I see a lot of regulars now who come in, even by themselves,” she said.
The phrase Las Olas translates in English to the waves, a name that evokes the restaurant's new Spanish identity with its traditional menu of fish.
Coming soon: a coat depot comes to the Neumann building, and a bakery and Cuban restaurant come closer to opening.
