Hoboken High Valedictorian Will Head To Brown University; More Acceptances Announced

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken High School's valedictorian is heading to the prestigious Brown University in fall, according to a list released by the high school this month of college acceptances and scholarship awards received by graduating seniors.

Hoboken senior Rowan Ellison is off to Brown in Providence, R.I., after having won several awards and scholarships (see below) senior year. Brown was more competitive in its admissions this year than ever before, accepting merely 5 percent of applicants and turning away nearly 49,000 hopeful students, according to the Brown Daily Herald.

With some applications delayed due to the pandemic, college acceptances were extremely competitive this year, admissions officers have said.

HHS salutatorian Andrew Castlen will head to Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., which accepted only 11.8 percent of applicants this year.
