Water Main Ruptures In Hoboken On Morning After Snowstorm

Suez Water: "During extreme weather, main breaks are common occurrences."

HOBOKEN, NJ — A water main ruptured in Hoboken on Grand Street Friday morning. Customers in the area may experience low or no pressure while repairs are made, Suez Water officials said.

Suez Water workers were on site for emergency repairs to a 6-inch water main on Grand Street between 8th and 9th streets, the utility provider stated.

“Hey, what a surprise,” one internet commenter wrote. “Another water main break in Hoboken.”

Suez Water spokespeople replied:

“We understand your frustrations. We feel them too. We never want our customers to be inconvenienced. But during extreme weather, main breaks are common occurrences. Our main priorities when it comes to these breaks is getting them repaired as quickly and safely as possible. Thanks for your patience.”

Suez Water reported that the break was repaired and service restored at 9:30 a.m.
