When Will The Rains End In Hoboken In Saturday Storm?

Forecasters say the storm may be a nor'easter north of NJ. It's expected to bring rain to Hoboken through Saturday morning.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken was expected to get hit with rain from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning from a strengthening storm that some forecasters said might become a nor'easter to the north of our area. (See maps here).

Many areas of Hoboken flood during severe storms. The city and Hudson County have not issued an alert as of this writing.

The area has been vulnerable to flooding, particularly if there's a downpour in conjunction with high tide. Over the summer, two "fifty-year storms," or storms that are theoretically supposed to occur once in fifty years, flooded streets and trapped cars. This Friday evening, high tide is expected at 11:40 p.m., and on Saturday, the tide will rise again at 11:18 a.m. (Click here for daily tides).

Rain is expected to fall on and off starting around 2 p.m. Friday, with continuous rainfall from 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters say it may bring snow north of us, and possibly a nor'easter to Long Island and north.

Report power outages and downed wires to PSEG at https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/outagepublic.

Residents and businesses should secure all loose objects including holiday decorations, especially on balconies. Outdoor tents and canopies should be taken down depending on wind load.

The city of Hoboken and North Hudson Sewerage Authority are working together to clear clogged catch basins throughout the City. Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at 866.689.3970.
