Zimmer Names New Provisional Fire Chief: Brian Crimmins
Crimmins will preside over Hoboken's fire department until a new fire chief test is administered in early 2018.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken has a new provisional fire chief: Brian Crimmins. His task for now? Preside over the Mile Square City’s fire department until a new fire chief test is administered in early 2018.
On Thursday, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced that Battalion Chief Brian Crimmins, currently a battalion chief, will be appointed as the new provisional fire chief and sworn in this week.
Crimmins will serve until a new fire chief test is administered in early 2018. The test will be open to all battalion chiefs and captains, and Mayor-Elect Ravi Bhalla’s administration will make a decision on the next chief after the results of the test have been received, Hoboken city officials announced.

Crimmins has served in the Hoboken Fire Department since 2004 and was ranked #1 on the battalion fire chief promotional list. He graduated magna cum laude from Boston College and graduated #1 in his class at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he received a master’s degree in public administration.
