HOLMDEL, NJ — On Tuesday, 125 students from Holmdel High School were inducted into the National Honor Society, the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students.
Juniors and seniors who have a grade point average of 3.66 or higher are eligible to be nominated for membership. Nominees must also demonstrate they have completed 200 hours of service since the start of their ninth grade year and pass an extensive vetting process focused on the pillars of leadership and character.
The Holmdel High School chapter, which continues to memorialize a beloved former Holmdel teacher, Helen Ackerson, held its annual induction ceremony Tuesday. It is often a tearful ceremony, and Tuesday was no different: As is school tradition, each student who was inducted named a teacher or school staff member who has mentored them, and gave each mentor a yellow rose.
