2,185 Pounds Of Supplies Donated To Ukraine In Holmdel

In light of the generous donations, Governor Phil Murphy paid a visit to the township.

HOLMDEL, NJ — During the month of March, Holmdel Township hosted the “Ukraine Medical Supply Drive,” which resulted in over 2,000 pounds of donations from township residents.

Governor Phil Murphy stopped by Holmdel Town Hall to see the final boxes being loaded into the truck and to thank the residents of Holmdel for responding to the call for help.

Holmdel Township was able to ship 2,185 pounds of critically needed supplies to Ukraine, including 38,000 bandages, 9,000 gloves, 1,000 bottles of over-the-counter pain relievers, 200 backpacks and dozens of handmade cards from Holmdel public school students, many of which were translated into Ukrainian.

“The outpouring of support for the Ukraine Medical Supply Drive from Holmdel residents was overwhelming,” Deputy Mayor Prakash Santhana said.

Employees from Bayshore Medical Center, Bell Works, local pharmacies, and students from Holmdel Township's Indian Hill and Village Schools also participated in the drive.

Mayor Buontempo was also contacted by Somerset Development CEO Ralph Zucker, who made a generous donation.

“Holmdel’s residents are always ready to lend a hand when assistance is needed,” Buontempo said.

The supplies have been given to a shipping company, which will transport them to Lviv, Ukraine.
The supplies will then be delivered to aid organizations, which will distribute them to Ukrainian citizens across the country.
