$30 Sports Physicals In Hazlet

Does your son or daughter need their sports physical to play on fall teams? Get them done for $30 at Hazlet Family Care.

HAZLET, NJ — Attention, local parents: Does your son or daughter still need their sports physical, as required by the state? Get it done for $30 at Hazlet Family Care, a local urgent care center. Pictured is Dana Essner, a nurse practitioner at IMA Urgent Care/Hazlet Family Care, checking a student's heart rate.

In order for most students to participate in fall sports, physicals must be done by July 28. IMA Urgent Care/Hazlet Family Care is offering $30 sports physicals to help those without health insurance.

All high school students in New Jersey must comply with the Scholastic Student Safety Act, which says they must have a doctor perform a physical before they can start practicing with their team. Having a sports physical may bring awareness of an issue with the student-athlete before it becomes a major issue on the playing field.

The physicals include vital signs, eye exam, flexibility and joint movement, fitness assessment and medical history overview. (*Some additional services may not be included for that price, such as required blood work).

"Every parent's priority is their child's health and well being. A sports physical is the perfect tool to test for cardiac, pulmonary and muscular diseases," said Dr. Brendan J. Mullholland, who runs the urgent care center.
