5 Holmdel Educators Honored With Statewide Award

Five teachers and educational service professionals from Holmdel were recognized by the NJDOE in 2020. Here are the honorees:

HOLMDEL, NJ - Five teachers and educational service professionals from Holmdel Township Public Schools have been recognized for their outstanding efforts in K-8 education by the New Jersey Department of Education as Exemplary Educators.

The honorees are:

  • Art Howard, Village Elementary School Principal
  • Rebecca Waddell, District Literacy Coach
  • Nicole Ward, Special Education Teacher
  • Stacey Campbell, Elementary School Teacher
  • Kaitlyn DaSilva, Elementary School Teacher

The goal of the award program is to identify outstanding educators for special recognition, alternating between elementary (Pre-K to 5) and secondary (6-12) every school year, according to the state website. A certificate of recognition is given out to those deemed an Exemplary Educator.

The nomination process began in February when teachers, parents, and community members nominated deserving educators throughout the state. An online application process was completed by district administrators and supervisors earlier this year.

Qualifications for the award include strong knowledge and skills, an inspirational presence and a positive impact on students, colleagues and the greater school community.

The five educators from Holmdel will be recognized with an official certificate from the New Jersey Department of Education at the next board of education meeting on Jan. 27.
