HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Township Police Department transitioned dispatch services to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Communication Center on Tuesday.
This shared service aims to improve the town's emergency communication abilities, enhance interoperability with mutual aid partners, reduce emergency call-taking times and result in cost savings for the township, officials said.

Chief Ackerman and the men and women of the Holmdel Township Police Department extended their gratitude and appreciation for the service and dedication of their dispatchers.
"Our dispatchers were integral members of our team and extended police family," Ackerman said. "Thank you for your service to our department and the residents of our Holmdel community."
Some of Holmdel's dispatchers have accepted positions with Monmouth County Communications and will continue serving the residents of Holmdel, police said.
Regardless of where their careers take them, the department is wishing them "the best of luck" and is "proud to have served alongside them."
