HAZLET, NJ — The Hazlet Farmers Market scheduled to take place on Saturday has been cancelled due to extreme heat, the Hazlet Recreation Department recently announced.
As the holiday weekend approaches, much of New Jersey is under an Extreme Heat Warning as dangerously high temperatures move in on the East Coast.
In an online post, the Hazlet Recreation Department said the safety and well-being of local vendors, volunteers and community members are the top priorities.
With temperatures expected to reach dangerous levels, department officials said they want to ensure that everyone stays safe and cool.
"We are incredibly sorry for any inconvenience this causes to your holiday weekend plans!" the department said. "We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you at our next market date when the weather cooperates."
