2 Charged In Burglary Investigation, Holmdel Police Say

HOLMDEL, NJ — Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary that took place in May, Holmdel Police said.

On May 2, at 4:10 a.m., two people approached the front door of a home, wearing dark clothing and masks, but fled without attempting entry.

The suspects then approached the home across the street and entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway.

After an unsuccessful attempt to steal the vehicle, police said the suspects smashed a window on another vehicle in the driveway and gained entry to it.

The subjects, identified as Asaad Betts, 20, of Neptune, and a 17-year-old boy from Neptune whose name has not been released, were charged with burglary, criminal attempt motor vehicle theft, criminal mischief, and conspiracy, police said.

The investigation was conducted by Dt. Michael Sasso with assistance from the Middletown Police Department.
