Family, friends and fellow officers were on hand at the ceremony to see Walsh and Martelli take the Oath of Office.

Mayor Rocco Impreveduto administered the oath to both officers.

Ptl. Walsh is a second-generation Holmdel Police Officer. Her late uncle, Corporal William Cusik, served 25 years with the department before retiring in 2015.

Ptl. Martelli comes from a military family and is the first in his family to serve in law enforcement.

Both Walsh and Martelli have been assigned to the Patrol Division and are progressing through the Field Training Program, officials said.

"Godspeed and best wishes to this next generation of Holmdel police," the department said in an online post.
