HOLMDEL, NJ — A local teen is advancing to the next round of "The Voice" after winning in the battle round on Monday night.

Mia Knight, 16, of Holmdel, first made her debut on "The Voice" during the show's season 30 premiere in late September.

After taking the stage to perform Sienna Spiro's "You Stole The Show," coaches Queen Latifah, Riley Green and Kelly Clarkson all turned their chairs around for Knight, though the singer ultimately ended up on Queen Latifah's team after she used the show's "First In" button to secure her spot.

On Monday night's episode, Knight took part in the battle rounds of the show, where coaches pit members of their team against one another in duets.

Following their performance, the contestants' coach selects the winner of the battle, who is then able to proceed to the next round of the show.

In a battle shown on Monday night's episode, Knight performed a rendition of "Never Enough" from The Greatest Showman with Sophia Liano, a fellow member of Queen Latifah's team.

The duo stunned the audience with their performance, earning a round of applause from guests and from the coaches.

"I don't know who y'all are or what y'all are doing, but y'all should sing," Coach Riley Green said.

The sentiment was shared by Knight and Liano's coach, Queen Latifah, who told the pair, "What you just did out there [with their performance]? We are all better for it."

"I literally had to take my ring off because I cracked the stone on here on one of those notes," she said. "I was like, 'What?!' So you owe me a ring, but I think you can run me that by winning this show."

While Knight and Liano both gave stellar performances, Queen Latifah ultimately chose Knight as the winner of the battle round, allowing her to advance to Cut Week in November.

"I had to pick Mia because she controlled that microphone like 'This is my mic. This is my stage. This is my song, this is my voice, and this is what I do,'" she said.

"Mia is only 16 but, you know, my first record came out when I was 17," she continued. "Some people are ready, and she is ready to keep moving forward in this competition."

"The Voice" airs Monday nights from 8-10 p.m. EST on NBC. New episodes can be streamed the next day on Peacock.
