Barbara Singer Releases Statement On Holmdel Election

'There should be unity after an election, all sides coming together for the betterment of the town,' said Singer.

HOLMDEL, NJ — In response to this article Wednesday, where Holmdel Mayor Greg Buontempo accused Holmdel Democrats of lying in campaign mailers, and running a smear campaign, Democratic candidate Barbara Singer requested the following statement be published in Patch:

"The Holmdel Republican candidates won with an approximately 3% spread, yet it was 20-30% for the Governor's race in Holmdel, Guadagno over Murphy here. Clearly people crossed party lines. We had Republicans volunteering on our campaign and Republicans publicly supporting us, right alongside Democrats and undeclared voters."

She also said Buontempo had nothing to verify his "wild accusations" of outside Democratic forces trying to intervene in the Holmdel race. Related: Republicans Keep Control In Holmdel

"We strive to bring people together in Holmdel, not cause divisiveness based on party lines or wild allegations. We publicly complimented our opponents during the campaign as men who are good in their profession while stating that we had differences in opinions on handling Township matters. We encouraged and still encourage informed respectful discussions on the issues. The vote reflected the support we have in moving our town in this positive direction. There should be unity after an election, all sides coming together for the betterment of the town."
