Car Burglaries Hit Heather Hills, Blue Hills in Holmdel
Police urge residents to lock cars, remove valuables from them.
HOLMDEL, NJ — Several burglaries from cars took place Sunday night from midnight on, police said.
They were mainly in the Heather Hills and Blue Hills areas, a police Facebook post said. Vehicles were left unlocked, which allowed easy access.
Police reminded residents to lock their cars or trucks, take keys indoors and secure your homes.

The advice to residents pops up on many town Facebook sites because almost every town has experienced either burglaries from cars or outright car thefts.
The Hazlet Police Department recently put out a Facebook post that advised residents to secure their cars and homes by 9 p.m., a convenient way to build awareness of safety and security into your normal routine.

"Crime prevention doesn’t have to be complicated. Take a minute and do the #9PM routine," the Hazlet post said.
By 9 p.m.:
- Turn on outside lights.
- Ensure windows are closed and locked.
- Remove keys, wallets and garage door openers from your car.
- Lock your car.
- Lock your entry door and your garage door.
