Car Flips Near Holmdel Commons Wednesday

A car accident outside the Holmdel Commons shopping plaza was bad enough to cause four people to be hospitalized.

HOLMDEL, NJ - A car accident outside the Holmdel Commons shopping plaza Wednesday was bad enough to cause one car to flip over and four people to be hospitalized.

The accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Laurel Avenue and Commons Way, according to the Holmdel First Aid Squad and Holmdel police. When police and rescue workers got there, one of the vehicles was on its side. Both cars had sustained extensive damage. The vehicle that was traveling west on Laurel Ave. collided with a vehicle that was exiting from The Commons shopping plaza, police said.

Holmdel First Aid responded to the scene and transported three patients to Bayshore Hospital with minor injuries and one patient to Riverview Medical Center with a moderate injury, police said.

Laurel Ave. westbound was closed at Hwy. 35 for approximately one hour while tow companies recovered the vehicle and the scene was cleaned up.
