Car-Tanker Crash Ties Up Parkway, But No Serious Injuries: Police
A Holmdel 19-year-old received a ticket as a result of the accident Monday evening, State Police said.
BRICK, NJ -- A car that got stuck under a tanker truck at Exit 91 tied up traffic on the Garden State Parkway Monday night for more than three hours during rush hour, but there were no serious injuries, New Jersey State Police said.
Samantha Savrides, 19, of Holmdel, was southbound on the Parkway when she made an improper lane change and her black 2007 BMW became lodged under the tanker, according to the preliminary investigation, Sgt. Jeff Flynn of the New Jersey State Police said Tuesday morning.
The crash, which happened at 5:27 p.m., caused the right lane of the Parkway to be closed in the area for three hours, Flynn said. Traffic was backed up to Exit 98 in Wall until after 9 p.m. as a result.

Savrides suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention, Flynn said. She received a summons for careless driving, he said. The tanker truck driver was not injured, he said.
The 6,000-gallon tanker was carrying two chemicals, Flynn said, n-diethyldodecylamine and cyclodecene -- petroleum distillates. According to the National Institutes for Health, cyclodecene has uses in the manufacture of prosthetics and other biotechnology uses. A specific use for n-diethyldodecylamine could not be determined.

Photos posted to Facebook by the Berkeley Emergency Response Team Station 85, which was called in due to a potential hazmat situation, show the car trapped under the side of the tanker.
A leak resulted but was minor, according to authorities.
In addition to the Berkeley hazmat team, Brick Township police, Brick EMS, the Herbertsville Fire Department, New Jersey State Police and the South Jersey Transportation Authority were also on scene, the hazmat page said.
