This is the 30th annual National Trails Day, an awareness event started by the American Hiking Association. The association calls the day "a day of service for hometown trails and the people who love them."
Bring a day-pack with lunch, water and rain gear. The overall one-way distance will be about 4 to 5 miles and will be at a moderate pace, organizers say, adding all are welcome, including couples, singles, families, seniors and dogs on leashes.

The Friends of Holmdel Open Space (FOHOS), in addition to the mission of supporting the preservation and maintenance of open space in Holmdel, sponsors trail walks/hikes so that residents may become better acquainted with Holmdel Parks and Trails.
Now that the COVID pandemic seems to be receding, the group is again offering some walks. All FOHOS walks are free and open to the public and are "show and go." That is, there is no need to register. Severe weather may result in a cancellation. Just show up at the meeting time and place. The group requests that, in the COVID era, only fully vaccinated people participate.
