Chemical Spill At Holmdel Medical Office Friday Morning

HOLMDEL, NJ — There was a chemical spill at a medical building in Holmdel Friday morning, and two employees reported eye irritation. It resulted in the building at 668 North Beers Street, near Bayshore Medical Center, being evacuated Friday morning.
Police were called to the medical office at 5:19 a.m., after employees there called 911 to report a possible chemical leak. Two employees were suffering from eye irritation, and the building was evacuated. The employees told police they had walked into a storage room and immediately felt the effects of a chemical exposure.
An investigation by Monmouth County Hazmat determined that a small amount of a chemical normally used to clean equipment had spilled in a storage room. The area was neutralized and cleaned.

The building was deemed safe and opened for use by 9:30 a.m.
