A reception of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:00 pm. followed by performances from the Concordia Youth Chorale and Concordia’s Opera Lab students. A post-performance reception will include silent and chance auctions.
Founded in 2004 by John Balme and Cynthia Springsteen, the Concordia Vocal Academy offers vocal training, music theory instruction and choral performance opportunities for Monmouth County children, according to a press release.
Concordia Youth Chorale is a concert choir organization for treble and changed voices ranging from K through 12th grades. There are three divisions which rehearse weekly from September through June: Junior Chorale (K-5th grade), Senior Chorale (treble voices: 6th-12th grade) and the OperaLab, a training program for teenage solo singers, both boys and girls. The three groups rehearse on Tuesday evenings at the Middletown United Methodist Church in Middletown NJ.
The Chorale’s motto “Singing great music in great places,” has inspired unusual performance opportunities for its singers. The Chorale has performed in Carnegie Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Avery Fisher Hall, St. Paul’s Chapel next to Ground Zero in New York, the Washington National Cathedral, and in Colonial Williamsburg. The Chorale has toured England, Italy, Bavaria, Austria and the Czech Republic, Montreal and Quebec City and northern France. In October of 2012 the Chorale will return to Colonial Williamsburg and in July of 2013 they will make their fifth trip to Europe - this time to Spain.
Proceeds from the August 12th Gala will be used to grant scholarships to singers who wish to take part in the Chorale’s upcoming trips to Williamsburg and Spain.
Tickets to the August 12 event are $25 for adults and $10 for children, and includes both the pre- and post-concert receptions and general admission seating for the concert. VIP tickets for premium concert seating are available for $50 per person and also include both receptions.
