People should be cautious when letting their pets out, the resident said, who also wanted to warn children never to approach a wild coyote.

Coyotes in Monmouth County are not unheard of, particularly in the wooded and rural parts of Monmouth. Several have been spotted in Middletown Township in the past several years. In January of 2016, a large male coyote was seen running around Sandy Hook park. It was chased by an animal control officer and police through the streets of Sea Bright, and into Sandy Hook Gateway National Recreation Area.
