Dementia Care Facility Hearing Scheduled In Holmdel
The Holmdel Zoning Board of Adjustment will hear testimony regarding the facility at the board meeting on Wednesday.
HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Zoning Board of Adjustment will hear testimony on Wednesday night regarding a senior dementia facility. Proposed by United Methodist Communities, the project will be located at 470 Red Hill Road in Holmdel.
The Enclave at Holmdel's testimony was most recently heard at the zoning board's March 2 virtual meeting. Since no decision was reached, the public hearing was rescheduled for March 16.
The Enclave at Holmdel would house up to 105 dementia patients. According to a project description provided by municipal officials, the facility would include a residential memory support program and a variety of programs, such as an assessment program, educational services and community outreach and support.

During the March 2 meeting, the facility's architect, Dave Hoglund, provided a revised plan for the project.
The town center has been downsized from a two-story structure to a one-story structure. According to Hoglund, shifting the town center permitted the applicant to connect two two-story residential buildings that are next to the town center.

Included in the town center will be administrative offices, a grocery store, a bistro, an auditorium, a concierge space and a lobby.
The Enclave at Holmdel will comprise 15 buildings, each of which would have seven individual bedrooms, and provide living accommodations for up to 105 residents “who will be living at the site with a spectrum of dementia needs,” Hoglund said.
The facility would be built on the Potters Farm property, which has sparked opposition from not only Holmdel residents.
"With clear opportunities to preserve this farm it's disheartening to see the gateway to Middletown and Holmdel be destroyed," said Middletown Mayor Tony Perry.
The board meeting will take place at Town Hall on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m.
