HOLMDEL, NJ — Who says Holmdel is over-developed and has lost its rural roots?
Someone's donkey got loose Monday night and was seen wandering on Holmdel Road near Arbor Lane at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, said Holmdel police, who were called to snag the animal.
"If, when you wake up this morning, you realize you are missing your domesticated farm animal, do not be alarmed, it is currently in the possession of the Holmdel Township Police Department!" wrote police on Facebook.

They said the animal's owners were located.
The donkey's owner said on Facebook that the animal escaped out of her pen and is also pregnant, to boot. She lives not on a farm, but a large piece of property off Holmdel Road and the owner does not know how she got out of her gate, Holmdel police told Patch.
