Drunk Driver in Hazlet Causes Accident, Police Say
A Hazlet woman was injured in a DWI accident on Laurel Avenue.

Hazlet, NJ - A Hazlet woman was injured after an allegedly drunk driver from Rahway collided with her car on Laurel Road Thursday, local authorities said.
Holmdel police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Laurel Avenue near the intersection of Holland Road at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10. Holmdel police had just received a call about a car driving very fast and erratically along Laurel Avenue in their township. It was later determined to be a 2014 BMW operated by Andrew Magyar of Rahway.
Magyar’s vehicle had collided with a 2013 Hyundai operated by a Hazlet woman. She was driving southbound on Laurel Avenue when the collision occurred. Patch has chosen not to name the woman out of respect for her privacy. She suffered facial injuries and was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, where she was treated and released.

Magyar, however, was not injured and was determined to be driving while intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and transported to the Holmdel Police Department. Further investigation is ongoing.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged and were towed from the scene. Additionally, the Monmouth County Highway Department responded to clear the debris that littered the roadway after the accident.
