"Walk A Mile In My Shoes" 5K Walk/Run

As our 5th annual “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” 5K walk/run nears I am inspired by my nephew Antonio Bevacqui to continue this walk to raise awareness about the rare and deadly disease that he has been afflicted with.

This disease is called Epidermolysis Bullosa which is also known as EB for short.  EB is a genetic disorder of the skin.  EB causes significant and chronic blistering both inside and outside of the body, open wounds and unimaginable pain from the moment of birth.

There is no known cure for this disease.  Without research the best that can be done for Antonio and other children with this disease is to manage their pain and try to minimize infection.

My nephew Antonio Bevacqui has been suffering with this disease since his birth 11 years ago.  My nephew’s courage and strength continue to inspire me each year to continue to raise awareness for this disease.

This year we need your continued support to raise awareness.  We understand that many people are affected by these difficult financial times but Antonio and his EB friends need your unrelenting support in order to continue our fight to find a cure for EB.

I have made a personal commitment to my nephew and the EB community to raise awareness and funds in order to find treatment and a cure. I know that WE can make a difference by helping to raise awareness and to help with the funding that is needed to continue research efforts that may one day wipe out EB.

Important strides have been made in medical research in finding a cure and to help EB patients to improve their quality of life.  Please join us for our 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run, Sunday October 30, 2011, Cross Farm Park, Holmdel, NJ and help us continue the fight to find a cure for EB.

This year we will have a live band “Last Minute.”  In addition, the Allegro Dance Troupe will be performing.

Antonio has designed a new t-shirt for the first 75 registrants.   We will have amazing giveaways for those who come to raise awareness.

In closing I would like to ask for your continued prayers and support for Antonio and his EB friends.  If you cannot make it to our walk, donations are welcome.

Registrations should be sent to the address below.  If you would like to make a donation please make check payable to:
