Ex-Uber, Lyft Driver Convicted Of Stalking NJ Girl, 14
The 43-year-old man indicated that he followed the girl from school every day.
HAZLET, NJ — An Uber and Lyft driver was convicted for stalking a 14-year-old girl from Hazlet, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
The 43-year-old man is Shyam Gurung, formerly of Jersey City. He was found guilty of fourth-degree stalking after a week-long trial.
The case dates back to May 2017. Gurung drove by the Hazlet Middle School multiple times looking for the girl, according to an investigation by Hazlet police.

One time Gurung approached the girl as she walked home from school and told her that she was “pretty," also indicating that he followed her every day.
Less than a week later, he was seen waiting across the street from the school as the girl started walking home, officials said. He was arrested not long after that.

Gurung faces up to 18 months in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 22.
