Explosion in Garage Fire in Middletown

A petroleum fuel container fed a blaze that minorly injured the homeowner on Lincoln Street.

Middletown, NJ - Firefighters responded to a garage fire fed by a petroleum fuel container Saturday afternoon in the Fairview section of Middletown Township, officials told Patch.

The call of an explosion and a garage fire at 880A Lincoln Street came in at 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, January 2. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they encountered heavy fire and smoke emanating from the first floor garage of the two-story home.

A petroleum fuel container in the garage was feeding the fire, and firefighters needed to quickly use aqueous film forming foam (seen above) to suppress the petroleum fuel. The garage after the fire is pictured above, in this photo provided by the Middletown Township Fire Department.
