Garage Fire Prompted Evacuations, Road Closure In Holmdel
No one was hurt in a garage fire Monday morning at a house off Laurel Avenue on Middle Road in Holmdel; authorities are investigating cause.
HOLMDEL, NJ — A fire in the detached garage of a house on Middle Road Monday morning was extinguished with no injuries to homeowners or firefighters, police said.
But it resulted in the temporary closure of Middle Road between Laurel and Palmer avenues and evacuations of neighbors, police said.
The garage appeared to be destroyed and the fire produced plumes of smoke visible in the area.

Holmdel Fire and First Aid, along with multiple fire and EMS units from surrounding towns responded to the report of the fire at 10:12 a.m., police said.
After several minutes the fire was extinguished, police said.

There is no official report on what may have caused the fire.
The matter is now under investigation by the Holmdel Detective Bureau and the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office, according to Holmdel police.
