Flash Flood Watch Through Noon on Friday

Rainfall of 2-3 inches per hour Thursday night could cause flash flooding, police warn.

Be careful on the roads Thursday night and Friday morning: Not only is there a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until midnight, a flash flood watch has also been posted through noon on Friday, Hazlet police said. The watch is in effect for all of Monmouth County, but especially around the Hazlet area.

The potential for localized rainfall amounts of 2 or more inches in one hour will bring the risk for flash flooding. Isolated rainfall amounts of three inches or more are possible. Please use caution while driving. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Heavy rainfall and potential flooding will be the main threat overnight into early Friday morning. A few stronger embedded storms could result in wind gusts between 40 and 60 miles per hour.
