HOLMDEL, NJ - A new four-way stop sign will soon be added to a Holmdel Township intersection that has been deemed dangerous for years.

The four-way signage is set to be implemented at the crossroads of Telegraph Hill Road - Holland Road and South Holland Road - Takolusa Drive. On Tuesday, the Holmdel Township Committee unanimously passed the ordinance to add signage to the area.

Township Engineer Ben Matlack confirmed at the meeting that a four-way stop at the intersection “is warranted”. New multidirectional stop signs are slated to be installed following a notification period.

As reported by TAPinto Holmdel, the ordinance comes nearly three years after a Holmdel resident nearly lost his life due to an accident at the intersection. A GoFundMe page for the local detailed that the accident left him with "multiple brain injuries".

A public hearing on the ordinance was held on Oct. 13 to take final action on the traffic pattern changes. No comments from the public were made.

Matlack also noted that the Holmdel Township Police Department has expressed interest in implementing a roundabout at the intersection. “We’re looking into that as well,” he confirmed at the meeting.
