Grant Helps Hazlet Shelter For Abuse Victims

180 Turning Lives Around is awarded $2,500 for its emergency shelter and supporting programs.

HAZLET, N.J.— The nonprofit 180 Turning Lives Around in Hazlet was awarded $2,500 to benefit its emergency domestic violence shelter. The grant comes from the Affinity Foundation, based in Basking Ridge, which is the philanthropic arm of Affinity Federal Credit Union.

In addition to the shelter, the organization offers supportive services that focus on improving the whole spectrum of a clients’ well-being, including their financial and physical health, the foundation noted in a statement.

The Affinity Foundation award seven tri-state organizations with grants ranging from $1,000 - $5,000, totaling $22,000, in support of programs that align with the foundation’s "mission and three focus areas — education, financial well being and healthcare," Affinity said in a press release.

“We are proud to partner with organizations that demonstrate a steadfast commitment to the people they serve,” said Karla Wallack, executive director of the Foundation. “The services they provide are critical to helping people leave poverty behind.”
