Hazlet Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl

A Hazlet resident, who is a special police officer in Seaside Park, is charged with sexually assaulting the girl at his home.

A Hazlet man, who is also a special police officer in Ocean County, is charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl inside his home, authorities said.

Daniel J. Alfano, 25, a Class II Special Police Officer in Seaside Park, was arrested Wednesday.

He is charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

He was released after posting bail set at $100,000.

An investigation by Hazlet police revealed he engaged in sexual activity with the girl in his Parkview Drive home on May 2, according to a news release from acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

If convicted, Alfano faces five to 10 years in prison.

Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Danielle Zanzuccki is handling the state’s case.

Alfano is represented by Ocean Township-based attorney, Mitchell Ansel.
