HAZLET, NJ — A Monmouth County grand jury charged the former manager of a Hazlet auto repair shop in connection with the theft of $90,000 from his employer, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Monday.

Joshua Chisenhall, 39, was charged with second-degree theft by deception and second-degree computer theft, Linskey said.

Chisenhall was charged in October 2021 after a joint investigation by members of the Hazlet Police Department and the Prosector's Office Financial Crimes Bureau, Linskey said.

While working at the AAMCO on Route 36 South in Hazlet, Chisenhall routinely pocketed cash payments for services and falsified invoices to show that customers instead paid with credit cards, Linskey said.

According to officials, from January 2020 to March 2021, Chisenhall stole about $90,000.

Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Lawrence Nelsen, the director of the Financial Crimes Bureau, is handling the case.
