HAZLET, NJ — Tara Clark, the mayor of Hazlet, has announced that she is formally resigning from office effective immediately via a post on her social media.

In the statement issued by Clark, she claims that unexpected health issues have arisen in her family that require her full attention.

A new mayor will be selected and sworn in at the Township Committee meeting Tuesday night, March 1 according to Hazlet Public Information Officer, Christina Johnson.

Clark has been a public servant for the Hazlet community for over three years, serving as a Committeewoman, Deputy Mayor, and Mayor. "I have learned so much and am proud of all that I have accomplished. I would like to say thank you to those who will step up and take over my duties. I hope to return to serving my community in the future," Clark said.
