Hazlet Private School Wins a Trophy in 2014 NJ Science Olympiad

Last weekend, Baytul-Iman Academy, a small private school in Hazlet won the the 3rd place trophy in 2014 New Jersey Science Olympiad, held at Moorestown Friends School, NJ. This is the 6th year Baytul-Iman Academy is able to manage to win a trophy in this prestigious competition. This year, there was a record number of schools including Charter schools, Public, and Private schools with about 350 contestants taking part in different challenges in this highly competitive event!

Science Olympiad tournament is a rigorous academic interscholastic competition that consists of a series of events, which Baytul-Iman students prepare for during the academic year. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various Science disciplines of Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Technology which require knowledge of Science concepts, process skills and application.

Baytul-Iman students were awarded for their performance in the following exhibits: Deep Blue Sea: 1st place, Write it, do it: 1st place, No bones about it: 3rd place, Can Race: 4th place, Calculator Contest: 4th place, Don’t Bug Me: 4th place, Food For Thought: 4th place, Weather or Not: 4th place, and Water Rocket: 4th place.

Baytul Iman Academy is a small private school that always strives for excellence. Its mission is to provide outstanding and well-rounded education to its students, focusing on high scholastic achievement, as well as character building, to promote talented, balanced, productive, compassionate and law abiding citizens of our nation. In order to prepare for this competition, the school not only focuses on academics but also emphasizes teamwork, group planning, interaction, and having fun and developing a learning spirit. The students have recently won other accolades such as winning an Honorable mention and 3 resolutions passed out of a possibility of 6 in the 2014 Global Classrooms Middle School Model United Nations International Conference in New York while their Boy Scouts Pack 786 received Silver Award for Journey to Excellence. Each year a large percentage of students gain admission to prestigious Magnet schools.
