Dear Parents and Guardians:

Central office administration is aware of the recent Tik Tok post of a nationwide school threat. A video has been making the rounds on Tik Tok warning of nationwide school shootings on December 17th along with hashtags #december172021, #december17th, and #december17.  We have not received a report that connects these threats with our schools, but we are proactively communicating with the Hazlet Police Department on this matter because student safety and security is a priority for our District.

School administrators are working closely with our law enforcement partners and understand that there is no credible threat to our schools. Please take this opportunity to talk with your child about the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat, and about the appropriate use of social media, and encourage your child to speak with you, an adult at school, or any school administrator if they see or hear something, so that immediate action can be taken.
