COVID-19 POSITIVE INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT SYMPTOMS

Effective Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Hazlet School District will implement the following protocols:

COVID-19 POSITIVE OR SYMPTOMATIC INDIVIDUALS

  • Individuals who test positive for Covid-19 and are symptomatic, or individuals with Covid-19 symptoms who weren’t tested or are awaiting test results, should stay home and isolate for at least five full calendar days.
  • If symptoms resolve (fever-free for 24 hours and other conditions improve), isolation can end after five full calendar days and individuals can return to school/work.
  • If symptoms persist, continue to isolate until fever-free or 24 hours and other symptoms have improved.
  • A negative Covid-19 test is not required to return to school/work.
  • Individuals who test positive for Covid-19 and are symptomatic, or individuals with Covid-19 symptoms who weren’t tested or are awaiting test results, should stay home and isolate for at least five full calendar days.
  • COVID-19 POSITIVE INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT SYMPTOMS

    • Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 but have no symptoms must stay home and isolate for five full calendar days.
    • If no symptoms develop, isolation can end after five full calendar days.
    • If symptoms develop within one week of the positive test, the five-day isolation starts over on the first day of symptoms. Strict mask wearing at all times is required for another 5 days for those who test positive or are quarantined due to exposure.
    • A negative Covid-19 test is not required to return to school/work.

    CLOSE CONTACT INDIVIDUALS

    • In-school close contacts of a COVID-19 positive individual shall be notified of their status as a close contact by the school nurse.
    • Fully vaccinated individuals will not be excluded from school/work and are expected to attend school/work. In addition, if an individual has tested positive in the last 90 days and has no symptoms, they shall be considered “vaccinated” for those 90 days for purposes of this protocol.
    • Unvaccinated individuals shall be excluded from school/work for five calendar days to self-quarantine.
    • Both vaccinated and unvaccinated designated close contacts shall monitor for COVID-19 symptoms daily.
    • Everyone (vaccinated and unvaccinated) should get tested at least 5 days after having close contact with someone with COVID-19 unless they had confirmed COVID-19 in the last 90 days and subsequently recovered.
    • Staff and students have the option of getting tested privately and providing documentation of the negative test result. At-home COVID-19 test results will be accepted. Students should report all test results to their school nurse. Staff members should report all results to their school nurse and their immediate superior.
    • The District will continue to monitor in-house data, CDC updates, along with Monmouth County DOH recommendations and adjust protocols accordingly.
  • In-school close contacts of a COVID-19 positive individual shall be notified of their status as a close contact by the school nurse.

    Mask/Vaccine Mandate- The new Executive Orders 280 and 281 extends EO 251 and 253 and will remain in effect.
