HAZLET, NJ-- A Hazlet woman was arrested for trying to cash five stolen checks, police say.

Michele Fuertez was arrested for attempting to cash five checks totalling $4240 in June, police said. She was also charged separately with cashing an additional stolen check worth $850 at a Santander Bank. As a condition of her pretrial release, Fuertez cannot have any contact with the victims.

The stolen checks totalled over $5,000 police said.
