Highlights From Nov. Holmdel Board Of Ed. Meeting
Provided by the Holmdel school district, here are highlights from Wednesday's Holmdel Board of Education meeting:

HOLMDEL, NJ — Provided by the Holmdel school district, here are highlights from Wednesday's Holmdel Board of Education meeting. The Board of Ed.:
- Recognized a moment of silence for the passing of high school nurse Alexandra McKechnie and special education monitor Michael Ackerman.
- Celebrated Holmdel High School’s Girls Tennis Team and Boys Soccer Team for earning the title of New Jersey Group 2 Champions!
- Accepted a donation of “Buddy Benches” from the Village School Parent School Association. “Buddy Benches” are designed to create “safe spaces” for students to foster friendships on playgrounds.
- Accepted a donation of the novel “Eleven” by Tom Rogers from the William R. Satz School Parent Support Group for a school-wide literacy initiative.
- Approved the submission of the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC) Statement of Assurance for the 2017-2018 school year to the New Jersey Department of Education with a district score of 100% in all five areas of accountability.
- Approved SSP Architectural Group to provide professional architectural services for the Holmdel 2020 projects.
- Discussed the ongoing work of various board committees via sharing of monthly reports (see all posted committee reports here).
- Discussed a first draft of the 2018-2019 School Year Calendar.
- Accepted comments from the public on a variety of topics, including 5th Grade Math, the Gifted and Talented Program (Voyagers) scheduling, and Course Placement criteria for 2018-2019 (See criteria for grades 6-8 here and grades 9-12 here).
